Julia Hagen, born in 1995 in Salzburg, started to play the cello at the age of five and had her first cello lessons at the Musikum Salzburg with Mag. Detlef Mielke. At the age of 12 she entered the university „Mozarteum“ to study with Prof. Enrico Bronzi. 2011 she was accepted at the university of music in Vienna. First she studied there with Prof. Reinhard Latzko, and then continued to study with Prof. Heinrich Schiff.
Since 2015 she is a student of J.P.Maintz at the Udk Berlin. From 2014-2016 Julia was also a student of Gautier Capucons „Classe d’Excellence“ in Paris by the Louis Vuitton Fondation. In october 2016 she won the first edition of the international Mazzacurati cello competition and was also awarded the audience prize. Julia also won the international cello competition Liezen in 2010 and was awarded the ESTA-prize at the international Brahms competition in 2014.
