Péter Szűcs graduated from the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest with the highest qualification but he also studied bass clarinet at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris with Alain Billard. He participated in prestigious international festivals and music courses (Lucerne Festival, Klangspuren Festival, Bartók Festival and Seminar) and has worked with famous maestros and artists such as Sir Simon Rattle, Pierre Boulez, Alain Gilbert, Péter Eötvös, Barbara Hannigan.
Besides playing compositions of classicism and romanticism he shows special interest in music from the 20th and 21st century. As a chamber musician Péter Szűcs collaborates frequently with many ensembles and orchestras, including the UMZE Ensemble, Quasars Ensemble (Slovakia), Shallfeld Ensemble (Austria). His work and creed were also strongly influenced by the art of György Kurtág and Péter Eötvös.
As the holder of the Fischer Annie Scholarship he was on tour in Europe with a pianist, Péter Kiss. Their concert programs which popularize the Hungarian contemporary music have already been performed in Paris, London, Rome, Berlin, Helsinki, Warsaw, Tallin, Bombay. He is former member of Musiciens Libres chamber group and Budapest Wind Quintet. Currently, he is taking part in the doctoral (DMA) program of the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music.
